Growing up in the grungy 90’s, the daughter of an artist and kid sister to 4 imaginative siblings, Samantha Swade’s youth was influenced by the arts and just a touch of chaos.
By age 9, it was more likely you’d find Swade nose deep in the latest issue of VOGUE, than her assigned Social Studies homework.
So it came as no surprise when she took advantage of her big brother living in NYC, by spending her teenage summers running around the garment district, interning for a fashion designer as well as a multi-line showroom. While witnessing a photo shoot for a summer look book, Swade found her true calling, falling head-over-heels in love with fashion styling.
After stints at SAIC and Parsons, she moved to Brooklyn and began assisting stylists on any photo shoot she could get in on. Her ambitious work ethic helped her move to first assistant, working with some of the industries’ finest. Long hours spent on set, gave Swade time to hone her own styling strategies.
Today, Swade’s passion for storytelling is stronger than ever. As a freelance stylist, she enjoys the variety of meeting different clients’ needs and working on jobs that range from editorial to advertising to personal styling. Swade has the rare ability to grasp her client’s story and communicate it with ease. She has a true knack for connecting with her audience on a personal level and always brings a positive can-do attitude to every project.
